Over the years, Kelso-Burnett has completed a variety of projects at the Museum of Science & Industry. Recently, Kelso-Burnett Co. and Norcon, Inc. completed the design-build of the Chicago metropolitan area’s first downwind rotor turbine of its kind at the Museum of Science and Industry’s Smart Home: Green + Wired exhibit. The unique Skystream 3.7 wind generator was designed particularly for utility-connected residential and commercial use which could have an impact on all future “Green” construction.

More recently, Kelso-Burnett Co. completed the new 24,000 square-foot Science Storms exhibit at the Museum of Science & Industry that recreates many of nature’s most powerful phenomena- tornadoes, lightning, fire, tsunamis, avalanches, sunlight, atoms in motion, and more. Kelso-Burnett’s project team was responsible for power to over 1,000 light fixtures, 30 different exhibits, audio video cabling, and fire alarm installations. The team installed over 26,000 feet of speaker wiring, over 30,000 feet of Category 6 cabling, 5,000 feet of Category 5e cabling, backbone cabling, and audio visual special effects systems to bring the exhibit to life. The successful Science Storms project was awarded a THEA Award for Outstanding Achievement by the Themed Entertainment Association in 2010.
